Mick Foley lately recalled a dialog he had with former WWE author Vince Russo about D-Era X in 1998.
Shawn Michaels took a hiatus after dropping the WWE Championship to Stone Chilly Steve Austin within the WrestleMania 14 most important occasion. The next evening, The New Age Outlaws (Billy Gunn and Highway Dogg) joined Chyna, Triple H, and X-Pac in a new-look D-Era X with out Michaels.
On the most recent episode of his podcast, Foley mentioned The Heartbreak Child made it clear that he was sad with the group’s further members:
“Vince Russo was actually bummed out on the post-Mania occasion. ‘Hey, Vince, what’s unsuitable?’ and he was actually down. He’d obtained a browbeating from Shawn Michaels about how they’d actually weakened DX. I suppose Shawn knew that Highway Dogg and Billy had been becoming a member of. Man, inside 24 hours, that they had each bit of warmth again after which some, tenfold.” [16:41 – 17:09]
Mick Foley (aka Cactus Jack) and Terry Funk (aka Chainsaw Charlie) defeated The New Age Outlaws in a Dumpster Match at WrestleMania 14. As Foley alluded to, Billy Gunn and Highway Dogg immediately regained momentum due to their alliance with D-Era X.
D-Era X turned WWE Corridor of Famers in 2019
The legendary group shaped on October 13, 1997. It initially consisted of Chyna, Shawn Michaels, Rick Impolite, and Triple H. Nevertheless, Impolite left a month later when he joined WWE’s rivals WCW.
Billy Gunn, Chyna (posthumous), Michaels, Highway Dogg, Triple H, and X-Pac had been inducted into the WWE Corridor of Fame in 2019 as D-Era X members.
Michaels, Highway Dogg, Triple H, and X-Pac reunited on the Thirtieth-anniversary episode of RAW in January. Fellow WWE Corridor of Famer Kurt Angle jokingly tagged alongside to take the place of Gunn, who didn’t attend as a result of his AEW contract.
